Private holiday boat cruise passing the downtown Tampa skyline at night

Company Holiday Party on a Boat in Tampa: The Book Early Guide

Somebody in your office just got handed the holiday party. If that somebody is you, here is the good news: in Tampa, the best venue in town floats. Gone are the days of crusty captains and underwhelming pontoon boats. A private, captained charter on Tampa Bay gives your team a skyline, a sunset, a playlist they actually like, and a story they will still be telling at the next all-hands.

The catch is timing. Holiday weekends on the water are the first dates to disappear every year. This guide covers what you are actually booking when you search for a Christmas yacht charter in Tampa, which format fits a work crowd, what is included, how BYOB works, and how to handle a team bigger than 12. If you want the short version first, our corporate and holiday party boat charter page has it.

Key takeaways

  • Friday and Saturday evenings between Thanksgiving and Christmas are the first holiday dates to sell out. Pick a date in October and confirm the headcount by early November.
  • Adventure I is a deck boat over 26 feet, USCG licensed for up to 12 passengers, with the captain included on every charter.
  • Teams of 13 to 24 book a sister charter: two boats, two captains, same departure point and route.
  • Every charter is BYOB with iced cooler space under every seat. We cannot sell alcohol.
  • The 3-hour Sunset Charter is From $599 for up to 6 guests and $809 for 12; each guest over 6 is $35. Price is per boat, not per person.

Why a Boat Beats a Banquet Room

Office parties die in rooms. Someone stands by the shrimp, someone hides near the coats, and the playlist is whatever the venue had. A boat fixes that by design: everyone talks to everyone, the view changes every ten minutes, and the party has a built-in ending.

  • Fully private. Your team, your captain, nobody else aboard.
  • Captain included. Nobody from your company has to drive or be responsible for the boat.
  • BYOB. Bring the drinks your team actually wants instead of paying venue markups.
  • Built-in entertainment. Premium sound, color-changing lights and the downtown skyline as the backdrop.
  • Rated #1 party boat in Tampa with more than 200 five-star Google reviews, so the person who booked it looks very good on Monday.

Christmas Yacht Charter or Party Boat: What You Are Actually Booking

Plenty of people search for a Christmas yacht charter in Tampa and picture a 100-foot motor yacht with a white-gloved crew. That exists, and it costs what you would expect. What most teams of 6 to 24 actually want is a private, upscale boat with a professional captain, great sound and the freedom to run the party their way. That is what we do.

Our main boat, Adventure I, is a deck boat over 26 feet long (not a pontoon) with premium sound, color-changing lights, faux-leather seating, a swim platform and iced cooler space under every seat. It is USCG licensed for up to 12 passengers, and the captain is included on every charter. Think of it as the yacht experience without the yacht invoice. We are a private charter, not a restaurant with an engine, and we do not sell alcohol. That is exactly why it works for a company event: you control the guest list, the music, the food and the schedule.

The Holiday Calendar Fills Fast: When to Book

Tampa's holiday boating season runs from the week before Thanksgiving through New Year's Eve, and the weather is the best of the year: cooler evenings, low humidity, and sunsets before 6 pm, so a sunset charter still gets your team to the after-party. Here is the pattern we see every year:

  • Friday and Saturday evenings between Thanksgiving and Christmas go first. If your party has to be on one of those nights, book now.
  • Thursday afternoons and early evenings are the sleeper pick for companies. Easier to clear calendars, easier to get the exact slot you want.
  • The weekend of the Tampa Riverwalk Holiday Lighted Boat Parade is its own category. If you want to watch the parade from a private boat, that date needs to be locked as early as possible.

Our standard advance booking window is 48 hours, and we can sometimes take a charter inside 24 hours if a captain is available. For a company holiday party, do not count on that. Pick your date in October and confirm your headcount by early November.

Pick Your Format: Three Charters That Work for a Work Crowd

The Sunset Charter

The Sunset Charter is the one most companies pick, and for good reason. You leave in daylight, catch the sun dropping behind the bay, and cruise back into downtown as the holiday lights come on along the Riverwalk, Harbour Island and Davis Islands. Three hours is the perfect length for a group that includes your CFO and your newest intern.

The 4-Hour Charter

Want a true afternoon out? A 4-hour charter gives you time for a skyline cruise, a stop at a waterfront bar like Armature Works or along the Riverwalk, and a sunset finish. Go longer with a 6 or 8-hour charter if the plan includes Beer Can Island or a swim stop (yes, people swim in December in Tampa).

The Wave Rave

DJ and bottle service add-ons on a Tampa party boat at night

If your team is younger, louder, or just done with quiet holiday mixers, the Wave Rave is a 3-hour night cruise with a live DJ aboard, color-changing lights and the downtown skyline as the dance floor backdrop. Add a photographer so the stories have evidence.

What each format costs

Pricing for every format is on our services page. Rates are quoted per charter with a per-guest addition above 6 guests, which makes the math easy to put in front of whoever approves the budget. Current rates, before taxes and fees:

  • Sunset Charter (3 hours): From $599 for up to 6 guests. $809 for 12. Each guest over 6 is $35.
  • 4-Hour Private Charter: From $899 for up to 6 guests. $1,109 for 12. Each guest over 6 is $35.
  • 6-Hour Private Charter: From $1,299 for up to 6 guests. $1,509 for 12. Each guest over 6 is $35.
  • 8-Hour Private Charter: From $1,799 for up to 6 guests. $2,009 for 12. Each guest over 6 is $35.
  • Wave Rave (3 hours): From $825 for up to 6 guests. $1,035 for 12. Each guest over 6 is $35.

Price is per boat, not per person. Captain, ice, coolers and water are included. Gratuity is not included.

What Is Included and What to Bring

Every charter includes your USCG licensed captain, fuel, iced cooler space under every seat, bottled water, extra sunscreen, the premium sound system and Coast Guard safety equipment. You bring the party.

  • Drinks: we are BYOB and cannot sell alcohol. Bring beer, wine, canned cocktails, seltzers and whatever the non-drinkers on the team want. Cans over glass wherever possible.
  • Food: full catering is welcome. Think charcuterie boards, Cuban sandwiches from a local spot, or a dessert spread for a sunset cruise. Avoid anything that needs to be served hot.
  • Music: connect to the premium sound system and run your own playlist, or add a DJ for a charter that does not already include one.
  • Extras: Santa hats, ugly sweaters, a Secret Santa exchange, a quick awards moment at sunset. Keep decorations lightweight and boat-friendly; anything that can blow away will.
  • Layers: a December evening on the water runs cooler than the parking lot. Tell the team to bring a jacket.

More Than 12 People? Book a Sister Charter

Adventure I carries up to 12 passengers. Teams of 13 to 24 book a sister charter: two boats, two captains, same departure point, same route, same sunset. The boats cruise together and tie up at the same stops, so the party stays one party.

Details and booking are on our large group charter page. Sister charters need more lead time than a single boat because we are lining up two captains for the same window, which is one more reason to book your holiday party early.

Pickup and Logistics for a Work Crowd

Charters depart from the Davis Island Boat Ramp, a few minutes from downtown Tampa with easy parking and rideshare access. If your office is downtown or in Tampa Heights, ask about pickup at the Armature Works dock, and we can pick up from most public docks in downtown Tampa. Directions and parking are on our pickup locations page. A few logistics tips:

  • Set the arrival time 15 minutes before departure and share the exact pin with the whole team.
  • Appoint one person as the point of contact for the captain. Group texts do not steer boats.
  • Encourage rideshare, especially for a Wave Rave or any charter where the BYOB is doing its job.
  • Put the headcount in writing. Up to 12 fits one boat; 13 and up means a sister charter.

Holiday Lights From the Water

Holiday lights reflecting on the water in Tampa Bay seen from a private charter

This is the part no banquet hall can match. From late November, waterfront homes along Davis Islands and Harbour Island light up, the Riverwalk and Sparkman Wharf glow, and the skyline does its best impression of a snow globe without the snow. A December night charter is the most beautiful version of Tampa most locals have never seen.

If you want the full spectacle, plan your party around the Tampa Riverwalk Holiday Lighted Boat Parade, when decorated boats cruise the channel through downtown. Watching from a private boat means no fighting for a spot on the seawall and a front row seat to the whole route. Our Christmas boat parade page has details, and the parade date is one to lock in the moment it is announced.

Expensing It: Payment, Tipping and the Weather Plan

Pay by card or Afterpay at checkout; we also take cash, PayPal and Venmo. Tipping the captain is customary at 15 to 20 percent. Cancellations 7 or more days out are refunded in full, inside 7 days at 50 percent, and inside 48 hours are non-refundable. If we cancel for weather, you get a full refund. If a trip is cut short before the halfway point, you get a follow-up trip.

Frequently Asked Questions

How far in advance should we book a company holiday party boat in Tampa?

Book as soon as your date is set, ideally in October or early November. Friday and Saturday evenings between Thanksgiving and Christmas are the first to go, and sister charters for groups over 12 need extra lead time. Our standard minimum is 48 hours, but holiday weekends rarely have last-minute availability.

Is this a yacht?

Adventure I is a deck boat over 26 feet with premium sound, color-changing lights, faux-leather seats and a swim platform. It is not a pontoon and it is not a mega-yacht. It is a private, captained party boat built for groups up to 12, with sister charters for groups up to 24.

Can we bring alcohol and food?

Yes. Every charter is BYOB, with iced cooler space under every seat. We cannot sell alcohol. Catering, snacks and desserts are all welcome. Water and extra sunscreen are provided.

What if it rains on our party date?

If we cancel for weather, you receive a full refund. If the captain has to end the trip before the halfway point, you receive a follow-up trip. December falls in Tampa's dry season, so it is one of the most reliable months of the year to be on the water.

Can we hold a holiday party for 20 people?

Yes. Groups of 13 to 24 book a sister charter across two boats that cruise together with two captains. Visit the large group charter page or contact us to set it up.
